Wiring part 1

With some scale model projects the wires to run lights can be made into part of the scene, depending how you arrange things. Anything past, say, the 1920s will probably have had electricity, so it might workin a scale model. But in this project, it is pre-electricity so we're using gas or oil lamps: no wires. But we still need electricity to power the fake gas lamps, so in cases like this I usually I hide the wires within some of the infrastructure to make them invisible.


This build is the same way. Since there will be some shelving with drawers along the rear and right walls, I used the inside of that space to lay the cables. The first step was to design the shelving system. I made supports at different increments for the shelves to be adjustable.





That controller you see on the left with the wires will handle all the different circuits to this piece: eight separate circuits for different levels of lighting to be controlled remotely. It is housed in a base which will be a platform for the spiral staircase.


Next is finishing off the shelves and creating exposed brick for the walls behind the staircase.
