Stairs and floor

I built the floor and stairs around the same time. Before the floorboards went in I dug channels for some of the wires. The controller is on the left side and is the "brains" of the operation. It will be covered up by a small platform in a later step.


The stairs were complicated. The client wanted a spiral staircase in this room. I opted for them to go along the left side, on top of the controller. Some of the original ideas I had remained through a variety of iterations. The main thing I wanted was a wooden tread, with cast-iron look for the metal parts. So I created a bunch of parts I'd need to assemble each step.


When assembled, I tested a couple different colors and styles. The steps look the part:


I built a jig to secure the pole while assemblig the stairs.


There are slight holes to the right along the wood which will accomodate the ballusters and railing.
